Why the "Black Rose"? Every time I bring my friends fishing with me that ask that question. After the first time all they ask is when are we going to do it again. I have been fishing fresh and salt water for over fifty years. I have been out with numerous captains; they all know their business. The one thing that most of them forget is why they do what they do. They loved it. Somewhere along the line it became a drudgery for them, and it shows. Fishermen go out with them only because they don't have thier own boats. I When you go out on the Black Rose, you will realize and become infected by Rich Antonino's passion for a day on the water. Fun is the order of the day. Traveling to the target area usually involves one or two stops prompted by the spectacular whale sightings in Cape Cod Bay. Maybe an ocean Sunfish or basking shark will drift next to the boat. Up close sightings of these ocean monsters will stay in you memories forever. Oh I didn't forget the fishing. What do you like? Bottom fishing for Cod, Haddock, Pollock, and Wolf Fish, with an occasional Cusk, Monkfish, Sea Raven, or Hake thrown in for variety. Prefer to troll and let the boat do the work, go for Striped bass, Blues or in the late summer and fall how about Blue Fin Tuna? Maybe you like everything. Rich will troll for awhile in the morning and go bottom fishing later. Don't like long boat rides to fishing grounds. How about a half day trip in Buzzards Bay? Fishing with light gear for Fluke, Sea Bass, Scup, Stripers, Blues, and Skate can make for exciting non-stop action. It doesn't really matter what you prefer or choose when you go out on the Black Rose. You will have more fun then you ever had fishing. By the way, my ultimate reccomendation for dads. Take you son on his first deep sea fishing trip with Rich on the Black Rose. You will have the best day of your life watching the smile grow wider by the minute. You will laugh too as he begs for a rest from fighting fish. Resist the urge to help, let him battle that monster himself. He will thank you forever for introducing him to one of life's real joys. And when he becomes a dad, don't forget your grandson!

Fishing is an art, a hobby, a way of life. My wife and I started fishing on the Black Rose three years ago. Since that time we have brought only three different people with us. The reason being the fishing is so fantastic that everyone wants to go again. We live about 6 hours away. That is fair trade for the time on the boat. We leave with four coolers, and we come home with the same four coolers..........Full!!! Jean and I have fished in the Keys, Denmark, Canada. New York, Colorado. And sorry to say Ilinois, lot of brown water. But never have we had the fun and magnatude of fish caught with Capt Rich. So, if you want fish, a great time and a great 1st Mate. Look no furthur than the Black Rose. Brent & Jean Bates 411 Butler Road Plattsburgh N.Y. 12901

“We fished with Rich this spring and he really worked to put us on fish. He was helpful in showing us different techniques, obviously loves fishing and offered a great experience for family and friends. He does a great job and even helped me find a few choice fishing spots when I went fly fishing from the beach later in the season. I can’t wait to go in 2007.

Capt Rich and Capt Matt,
Thanks for making our 11 hour trip from Ohio everything we had hoped it would be. I dont think we slept
but for a few hours a night in the days leading up to the trip. What turned us on to your charter in particular
was your website, seeing the pictures and fishing reports from those days was all we needed. We were originally
booked on a headboat before coming upon your website. It was actually not a terrible thing when our trip was
cancelled due to severe weather since that allowed us to call and set a date to come and go fishing with you.
Getting used to drifting over the bottom had a little bit of a learning curve for us freshwater fisherman, but
you both gave us all the tips you had til we were all comfortable with it. For the first part of the day the
fishing was a little slow ( the whales certainly put on a show though ) but you drove us all over the "bank"
to get us on top of some good fish. On our final spot of the day we had 5 consecutive drifts where the fish were
coming over the rails in a flurry, so fast in fact that fish were already filleted and on ice before we got a
chance to take pictures. The efforts Rich and Matt put forth for us was unbelievable and we will be back next
year for sure, maybe for some tuna......
