To say I had a good time with today's crew is an understatement! It was a blast. Being a weekend, I was able to leverage my efforts and bring Capt. Matt on board as my mate and fillet master! I was so sore from the day before that I couldn't have done it myself. Having Matt was awesome and fun for him as well.
So, fishing was even better today. We must have fished in 50+ places. Many of them were great drifts, if we only got a couple of fish in each place. All of those places added up to a lot of filleting for Matt and some great fillets for the customers. The big excitement of the day came late when Mr. Porbeagle showed up and took two fish off of our lines... One of them was on the surface waiting to get gaffed when a 400# porbeagle wasted no time inhaling the whole fish. I will have an Okuma Makaira 50-wide on board from now on! That was enough chaos for a whole season!
The cod may be spread out this year, unlike the slamming days of the past 8 years. The bait, however, is blooming like never before! It's insane how much bait is on Stellwagen Bank right now. I must have seen 50 whales today and countless dolphins. With stripers in right now, you don't have to wait until early summer to break out the light spinning gear and have a blast!

Black Rose Fishing Charters specializes in small, private fishing charters. Our rates are very affordable and it is much easier to put together a smaller charter. We are based in Green Harbor, but we fish all of Cape Cod, Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth Bay, and Buzzards Bay. We target all species of fish, depending on season. We fish for "groundfish", which means cod, haddock, pollack, wolf fish, cusk, hake, halibut, and redfish. We would fish for sharks every day if we could and we catch blue sharks, makos, threshers, and porbeagles. We love it. Because of the design of our boat, we can have 4 people casting at one time very easily. We love fishing for bluefin tuna (casting, jigging, and trolling), striped bass, and bluefish. We have a fast boat, full cabin, and comfortable ride. See you out there!
