Offically, today was the best fishing day ever. There is no denying it. We had a tuna blitz this morning that couldn't be beat. Once we found them, we caught our fill and left them biting. Dom hooked 9 fish. Curt had double giants on! Chip was surrounded by tuna for hours. I don't even know how many they nailed. We did fine by all measures.

Glenn hooked the first fish and fought it perfectly. The rod got pased passed around a bit, as this fish was tough. It hit a White/red bellied TunaCandy (for sale, 10 for $25+ $5 shipping or 20 for $50 w/free shipping). They've been our bread-and-butter.

The landing of this fish was difficult and comical. I had Matt get the second harpoon ready just in case... The fish wouldn't cooperate and kept circling the boat. I made the decision to harpoon it from the bow....My harpoon hit too close to the head and just stuck in bone...I tried to push it through, but pushed too hard and I started going over the bowrail. I dropped the harpoon and was completely upside-down, but luckily Josh grabbed my two feet and pulled me back. As I was landing, Matt stuck it perfectly and the deal was sealed. Awesome!

Pooped as everyone was, we kept casting...I actually hooked up immediately (maybe two more casts). I made the "make it or break it" decision, as this fish would be released. I cranked down on the drag and I was able to get that fish to color before my customer could get a belt on. Then it got crazy..When I gave him the rod, the fish went vertical and dove, snapping the rod. I took the nub back and fought the fish back to the boat as quickly as I could, palming the reel and getting it to the boat in 2 more minutes. Matt leadered the fish and popped it free. Probably a 65 inch fish. Awesome!

So, we happily left the best tuna blitz in history and went haddock fishing. Every drop after that we got a haddock (pretty much). Insane day. Matt earned his keep today and we all had a blast. Friday is the shark tourney..... Capt. Rich Antonino, 508-269-1882

Black Rose Fishing Charters specializes in small, private fishing charters. Our rates are very affordable and it is much easier to put together a smaller charter. We are based in Green Harbor, but we fish all of Cape Cod, Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth Bay, and Buzzards Bay. We target all species of fish, depending on season. We fish for "groundfish", which means cod, haddock, pollack, wolf fish, cusk, hake, halibut, and redfish. We would fish for sharks every day if we could and we catch blue sharks, makos, threshers, and porbeagles. We love it. Because of the design of our boat, we can have 4 people casting at one time very easily. We love fishing for bluefin tuna (casting, jigging, and trolling), striped bass, and bluefish. We have a fast boat, full cabin, and comfortable ride. See you out there!
