Saturday, with great weather planned and a hot tuna bite makes for a lot of boats. Writing daily fishing reports and fishing in conjunction with someone who does the same makes those boats follow you around. A bit. Dom had some clingy company today, that's for sure. We were able to stay outside of the crowds and we were well rewarded.

Early in the morning, we didn't see many crashing fish, but we saw enough to keep us interested. It became pretty incredible--that is to say, we had three fish explode on our offerings (tuna candy), but miss. One of the fish was well past giant and well past what we could have reeled in. It was gigantic. We would have lost all of our line on that one, no doubt. Or we would have had to fight it for hours, until something broke. Scary big fish.

I ran around, looking for something more promising and finally found a good flock of working birds. Of course, they found our lures quickly as well. In the middle of untangling Roy's line from the wing of a bird, Jim on the bow screamed "I'm hooked up!". For 10 seconds, I thought that he had a big striper. It didn't take much line and I didn't see the hit. Then I heard the drag scream! I still don't know what happened to the bird I was untangling. I never asked.

Jim was on the bow and two or three times we had to chase the fish to keep from getting spooled. After the third time, we fought it from a still boat the rest of the time. It became a tug-of-war. For an hour. I "coached" Jim on the bow. Euphemism for "I should have had a bamboo stick to beat him with". Ok, I exaggerate---it didn't feel that bad until he passed me the rod after an hour+. I was beat up by that fish in 10 minutes. Jim's the man for fighting that fish like he did. With building seas, we headed home with an awesome catch. Thanks to the other boat next to us at Taylor's marina who had the wasabi!! Great day. See you out there, soon. Rich Antonino, 508-269-1882

MY WEBSITE MAY HAVE CHANGED FOR YOU, DEPENDING ON YOUR BROWSER. THERE SHOULD BE A NAVIGATION BAR AT THE TOP OF THE PAGE NOW. IT WAS ABSENT BEFORE ON MANY BROWSERS, I FOUND OUT. I HAVE TONS MORE CONTENT THAT WASN'T ACCESSIBLE FROM THE LINKS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE. CAN YOU LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN'T SEE THE NAVIGATION BAR AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN. THANKS!

Black Rose Fishing Charters specializes in small, private fishing charters. Our rates are very affordable and it is much easier to put together a smaller charter. We are based in Green Harbor, but we fish all of Cape Cod, Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth Bay, and Buzzards Bay. We target all species of fish, depending on season. We fish for "groundfish", which means cod, haddock, pollack, wolf fish, cusk, hake, halibut, and redfish. We would fish for sharks every day if we could and we catch blue sharks, makos, threshers, and porbeagles. We love it. Because of the design of our boat, we can have 4 people casting at one time very easily. We love fishing for bluefin tuna (casting, jigging, and trolling), striped bass, and bluefish. We have a fast boat, full cabin, and comfortable ride. See you out there!
