Well, let's just say that the weatherman was wrong. Very, very wrong. SW breezes 10-15....how about WNW 15-25 and a 4-6 foot chop! It was horrible out there today.. There was no shelter from the winds and waves today, so we stuck it out in some nasty chop, engine running all day to keep the bow into the waves.
The good part about stopping like this was that we were able to stop the boat over some very nice stripers in 50' of water off of Race Point. It was a blast, actually, for some (not all, unfortunately) as we got some great stripers on the Stingo-Fish PBJ jigs. We found that gold worked best today for some reason. Mike absolutely slammed them today, catching fish after fish for quite some time. He was jigging with my Okuma VS80 (tuna reel) and he stopped the fish quickly with that setup.
If I had an award for trooper-of the year, Mark, it goes to you. Damn you're a tough fella. Next time! Ending the day, we did see a great tuna blitz--we were ready for it on the troll (the tuna had different ideas). We gave it a quick college try then headed back to Green Harbor. We'll be out there again on Monday. The weather is finally breaking and it looks like summer!!

Black Rose Fishing Charters specializes in small, private fishing charters. Our rates are very affordable and it is much easier to put together a smaller charter. We are based in Green Harbor, but we fish all of Cape Cod, Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth Bay, and Buzzards Bay. We target all species of fish, depending on season. We fish for "groundfish", which means cod, haddock, pollack, wolf fish, cusk, hake, halibut, and redfish. We would fish for sharks every day if we could and we catch blue sharks, makos, threshers, and porbeagles. We love it. Because of the design of our boat, we can have 4 people casting at one time very easily. We love fishing for bluefin tuna (casting, jigging, and trolling), striped bass, and bluefish. We have a fast boat, full cabin, and comfortable ride. See you out there!
