Tuna fishing. It's an addiction. I mean, it grabs your brain and doesn't let go. It's all you dream about. And when you're targeting tuna, you have the feeling that the fish are "just a little further". So you run. And you run. And you run.

This happened today with me and my customers. We didn't find the tuna so we kept looking and looking. We did find, with Capt. Dom's help (from Coastal Sportfishing Charters), the best whale action on the planet. I mean, Dom called me and said to find him. It was incredible. It was perfect tuna grounds and everything looked great. We had whales as far as the eye could see bubble-feeding. We had thousands of birds (minus 2). We then had a few quick blitzes of tuna. Good fish; fast fish. Disappearing fish. With only one customer casting (in the back), I took casts from the pulpit. I came tight on a tuna during one of the blitzes, but it was a short-strike. I was using an Okuma VS80 and was looking to beat it up with a tuna on my "TunaCandy". I love the drag on those reels, but we haven't tested one out this year on tuna. Big huge stripers, yes. But tunas...not yet..At least we had the whale show of all whale shows!

Great couple today; I hope the fishing improves. It will with this much bait around. See you on the water...I have room after the 15th....so look at your calendars... Capt. Rich Antonino

Black Rose Fishing Charters specializes in small, private fishing charters. Our rates are very affordable and it is much easier to put together a smaller charter. We are based in Green Harbor, but we fish all of Cape Cod, Massachusetts Bay, Plymouth Bay, and Buzzards Bay. We target all species of fish, depending on season. We fish for "groundfish", which means cod, haddock, pollack, wolf fish, cusk, hake, halibut, and redfish. We would fish for sharks every day if we could and we catch blue sharks, makos, threshers, and porbeagles. We love it. Because of the design of our boat, we can have 4 people casting at one time very easily. We love fishing for bluefin tuna (casting, jigging, and trolling), striped bass, and bluefish. We have a fast boat, full cabin, and comfortable ride. See you out there!
