This shark looks much like a mako, but it isn't known for it's jumping or high speed runs. It is known as a glutten for mackerel, and you can often
find them when the mackerel are thick. They are even known to run in "packs" of several individuals. More than other sharks, they are a cold-water species and
also a deep-water shark. They will often find a boat fishing for cod and pick the cod off either on their way back to the bottom or on their way to the boat. When that
happens, get ready!!
They don't get as large as makos, but they have been caught over 400 pounds in Massachusetts before. Like the mako, they do make great eating!
