I just heard of an epic tuna bite going on right now... And I don't have a trip tomorrow. The bite yesterday was very, very good for the school tuna, and we saw a 116", 1,000 pound tuna brought into Green Harbor. Having my 6-year old on board yesterday, I didn't want to put her in the rough seas, so we stayed behind Provincetown and anchored up, flying kites for giant tuna and relaxing. But hearing of the bite at Peaked Hill/Stellwagen Bank....And hearing about today's bite.. Tomorrow is open. See you out there. Rich

SHARED CHARTER UPDATE: NEXT THURSDAY, JULY 31, COD TRIP. Give me a call and I'll get you out there. 508-269-1882. In the middle of summer we get our biggest cod and the haddock fishing is great.
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
Sorry for the lack of updates on the Captain's Log--I've been opining on the fishing reports pages more and more. The boat is back from Atlantic Marine in Wareham and I'm ready to fish! Lots has happened recently and I'm very excited to tell you about it all. Matt fished in the Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tourney this past weekend and our whole neighborhood ate Thresher Shark because of it. It was about 250 pounds--big enough to weigh, but, on the second day of fishing, it wasn't going to be a winner so they took it home and saved a bunch of time at the pier. Very good eating fish.
The sharks will be swarming in our area soon--on Friday they brought over 30 sharks to the boat---one small mako and the rest were blue sharks. They saw one big thresher and one big mako, but couldn't interest them. I can't wait to fish for sharks. It's so exciting. The tuna which arrived early are still here, but have been very quiet for a few weeks-- we see them, but they're not jumping in the boat right now. That bite will turn on very, very soon and I plan on fishing until it happens (and then like mad once it does!)
We have some great weekday dates available---if you're looking to make it a long weekend, Fridays are often available and please ask about any other days that work for you. It's prime-time for fishing right now, so...see you out there!
Monday, June 30th, 2008
A couple of shared charters of interest---Thursday, July 17th--SHARK FISHING. HOW COOL IS THAT?
Also, Thursday, July 31 for cod/haddock, perhaps a bit of sharks as well while we codfish.
Big note here---I now have my TUESDAYS AND FRIDAYS AVAILABLE FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR! Many of you may have known that I had those days reserved for a continuing group, but I dedided to not work with them last week. So, the good news for you all is that I now have 30+ more dates available on my schedule---prime dates as well. See you out there having fun! Capt. Rich, 508-269-1882
Tuesday, June 17, 2008
Well, time for life to change for the fishier! The tuna are in, the cod and haddock are still biting, and the stripers are hitting great. And the schedule is looking great. I'm on the water the next few days, "playing around", looking to get a piece of the big tuna that have been around. I may even have my 4 1/2 year-old out there! It should be fun. Keep watching my fishing reports section--much of my commentary, notes, tips, etc. will be ending up in that section. It's easier to keep all of the new info in one section, and since I'll be on the water most every day this summer, that's the section to watch!! I'll be adding more videos very soon. See you out there and think sushi.
Tuesday, May 27, 2008
Good morning! The fish are still on top of Stellwagen--cod, haddock, and pollack...AND STRIPERS Yes, we've been seeing tons of stripers out there. Plus, they're inshore in very good numbers now if you want to do some casting for stripers in Cape Cod Bay, Race Point, Plymouth Harbor, or Buzzards Bay. And speaking of Buzzards Bay, the porgy(scup) and sea bass are in right now. This is a great time for Buzzards Bay and porgy fishing on the Black Rose. Give us a call and we'll get you out there in the next two weeks before the bite slows down. The cost for our Buzzards Bay trips is $850 for a full day and $675 for a 6 hour. Great way to get out there fishing.
I'm getting very full for July right now, but there are some good mid-week days left in August. I would highly recommend taking an August trip for tuna in the morning followed by cod, stripers, or sharks afterwards. It's one of the most complete, exciting trips that we run and worth every penny. I have had my eyes out there for tuna over the past two weeks and have had every intention of "dropping it all" to chase those fish down!! I can't wait. See you soon.
Monday, May 19th, 2008
Ok, this is some of the best cod fishing imaginable. We've been fishing on top of Stellwagen Bank in shallow water and loving it. It won't last---give us a call and get out there before they move into deep water!. For this end, I've looked at the weather forecast for this WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY and the weather looks great. I AM RUNNING SHARED CHARTERS ON BOTH OF THESE DAYS--CALL ME AT 508-269-1882 IF YOU ARE INTERESTED OR EMAIL ME. I am also running a shared charter for cod and haddock this SUNDAY---MAY 25TH!!! captain@blackrosefishing.com
We'll leave from Green Harbor at 5:00 am on both days and the cost is $225/person. If you fish both days, the cost is $200/person. That savings is enough for a hotel room....(shared) Think about it. Quickly.Wednesday, May 14, 2008
I didn't miss too much over the past week+. Windy lately, but it's changing for tomorrow. A good swell, but still will be good fishing on Thursday! We added another SHARED CHARTER for
Sunday, May 25th for cod/haddock.
Saturday, June 7th in Buzzards Bay for sea bass/porgy
Monday, June 23 Wildcard---Captain's Choice for best fishing or concensus from you all
Wednesday, June 25 Wildcard---Captain's Choice for best fishing or concensus from you all
Of course, many of these shared charters stem from requests from you--if you want to go fishing and it's just you, or you and a friend, I'll build a trip around your plans. Just ask.
Monday, April 14, 2008
Well, the season is on! We've been out there a few times and it's been fun. If you read along my fishing reports, I'll be doing a lot of my "captain's logging" on the fishing reports page. Much of my traffic is directed there, so I'll put my mind there as well!
I HAVE A SHARED CHARTER, LAST MINUTE, FOR WEDNESDAY, APRIL 16
So, the weather is supposed to be amazing and the fish are all over the place. It's been "lock-and-load" action in shallow water and we're having a blast using our fluke gear and light jigs. You'll laugh, catch fish, but won't feel beat up the next day! If you're interested in this trip, don't wait....give us a call or an email!
Tuesday, April 1, 2008
Alas, the cod season starts, but we have 40 mph winds today!! And for the next few days it's going to be ugly. That's April in Massachusetts. Here's the first handrail around the pulpit. The second rail is going on tomorrow and will be 14 inches taller than that! It'll wrap the whole front of the boat. I love that idea and it'll make the bow the best place to fish in the whole fleet!!!
Wednesday, March 26, 2008
Here's the bow pulpit--the rail goes on this weekend. I'm almost done with the transom seat area as well---I've cut out one of the battery boxes (this one was empty, minus a pump) and it's ready to be the hot corner! I can't wait. Yes, cod season starts next week and I'm ready to go. I'm chomping at the bit. Now for the weather to cooperate!
Just as a reminder, I have some SHARED CHARTERS coming up: These are cod/haddock trips and the cost is $225/person. It's a great way to get out there without having to get anyone else off of the couch! If you've heard your friends say "it's early spring, what if it's cold?", then these are the trips for you! This fishing should be amazing and we'll be catching fish in shallow water. I can't wait.

I don't think anyone can be more excited than me about this coming fishing season! Ok, maybe a few. Special thanks to Richie Dynes for helping me out at the Somerset Saltwater Fishing Expo last weekend. He may be one of the few! He came down to visit me at the show and stayed all three days, helping me at the booth with all of the people passing by. With his enthusiasm, people were calling him "Captain" more than they were calling me "Captain"! It was awesome.
I had such a good time there, talking all day for three days about fishing. I'm addicted. Trips this year are looking great and we'll be off to a great April. I'm getting a lot of interest in the tuna, as I expected. At the show, the big hit was the Okuma Cedros Speed Jigging rod that I had displayed. Three customers of mine who came by the booth bought one immediately and I don't know how many more people bought one---at least 50 people ogled it and asked me about the rod. It's that cool. I think it'll make a great tuna jigging rod and great deepwater cod rig.
C'mon April 1!
Friday, March 7, 2008
It's been feeling a lot like fishing lately! Great weather and I've been getting some great time in with my kids in the yard. It's been fun. I've also been getting ready for the Somerset, NJ Saltwater Fishing Show, whihc is next weekend. That should be a good time, if any of you are in the area, stop on by. I put a lot of time into my display board, slideshow, and video display.
Lots more going on, my pulpit will arrive tomorrow and I'll redesign the bow of the boat for some great run-and-gun tuna fishing and cod jigging. I can't wait.
Tuesday, February 26, 2008
My son today nailed me good. Every day he asks me to take him fishing. Of course, "not yet--in the spring". He's 4 1/2 now and loves the boat and fishing, even though he hasn't done much of it. He's heard about it daily his whole life, though. He told me "I don't want you to take people fishing this summer. I want to go instead." I had to respond that this is what I do for work and people pay me good money to take them fishing. So he responds "Daddy, I wish I had lots of money so I could go fishing with you more." Ouch. That hurt.
It's been a great winter in that I've been able to see tons of our kids; this summer will be a big change. My hope is to have them meet me at the pier after a lot of trips for my "second trip" of the day! That will be a blast.
Not too much new here; Stacey is getting better and will hopefully get back to work next week after a few months being sick at home. That was tough.
Au Pairs...Does anyone have any experience with them? Finding a babysitter that can do our hours is increasingly difficult, so we are thinking of going that route. My experience with au pairs is pretty limited...I was in college in Boston and they had accents and were here for only a while...I think it should work out from a convenience standpoint, but I'm not sure about anything else. Who knows?
42 Degrees North Latitude...it's a 40 mile run from Green Harbor around the backside of Cape Cod to where the cod are now biting...I'm really, really tempted to take the boat for an early run and have a fish fry. It's that time of year. Almost ready...The pulpit should arrive this week and I'll get working on a new bow rail.

Another shared charter---a SUNDAY...April 20th
AND A SATURDAY SHARED CHARTER IN MAY...May 10th
Well, here are 6 shared charter dates if you can't find a full crew for your trip! See you soon.
Sunday, February 17, 2008
What a response on the shared charter! I filled the 11th of April and there are about 5 more people who wanted to fish that day! So, here are three more days I'll dedicate to the 3-day weekender
SHARED CHARTERS ON MONDAYS IN APRIL
MONDAY, APRIL 7
MONDAY, APRIL 14
MONDAY, APRIL 21
If you are looking for a shared charter on a different day, please give me a call or send me an email and I'll see if I can put one together for you! It's almost time to fish!
Saturday, February 16, 2008
Here's the website for the Lucanus Jigs from Shimano...Lucanus Jigs.
Monday, February 10, 2008
Well, still bouncing from Doctor to Doctor trying to figure out Stacey, so I will just focus on fishing. And on that note, I'll be raising my rates at the end of February, so if you want to lock in 2007 rates, now is the time. I'm booking up quickly and I expect this year to be very, very full. Another 6 weeks until the boat is in the water.
First official SHARED CHARTER ON FRIDAY, APRIL 11TH. Space available.
If you're going to be down in Somerset, NJ on March 14-16th, I plan on being at the Saltwater Sportsman show. That is being held there. Click here for a link. With all luck (Stacey's health), we'll be there with bells on having a blast. Stop by and see us. We can't wait.
I saw all types of hunting trips at the Worcester Sportsman Show and this is what I learned.
Hunting trips are expensive! Whoa! Most of the trips involved lots of travel, off-road jaunts, 5 days (usually), and the cost was around $4,000/PERSON! And this was to hunt a caribou. One animal. So, if you get that animal quickly, then what do you do? You don't hunt. Maybe go fishing. Hang out with friends? Drink? That's why we fish. If you catch and keep your limit, you can still fish! You can still catch fish! Isn't that what it's all about? I understand hunting is all about the chase. I love hunting myself. Fishing is about the chase, too. And catch-and-release keeps us all fishing more and makes the fishing even better! If you still want to keep what you catch, that's easy- we fish for something else at that time for the rest of the day (and the next day or days). See what I'm getting at?
What I'm getting at is making fishing YOUR HUNTING EXPEDITION! Plan on fishing for multiple days in a row. I dare say "instead of hunting", but, there, I'll say it. Think about four guys hunting for 5 days..That's $20,000! If you fish for 5 days with the Black Rose, you can fish:
For Tuna--Schoolie Bluefin Tuna or even GIANT TUNA
What a rush! They're one of the best-eating fish in the ocean and a blast to fight on any tackle. For Sharks--that's as close to hunting as you'll ever get--and we had two trips last year with more than 20 sharks!
For cod/haddock/wolffish/pollack We could fish Stellwagen Bank, Wildcat Knoll, Jefferies Ledge, Tillies Ledge, or the Backside of Cape Cod.
For stripers/blues--trolling, jigging, or sight-casting. We can do this in historic Plymouth Harbor, Cape Cod Bay, Barnstable Harbor, Martha's Vineyard, or Provincetown.
For fluke, sea bass, flounder in Buzzards Bay and Martha's Vineyard. Fishing in beautiful Buzzards Bay, along the Elizabethan Islands, or in the face of the bluffs of Martha's Vineyard!
See the options you'd have fishing? We can do this from 5 different ports if you'd like to see the state and all that Massachusetts has to offer. You could get two bed & breakfast rooms or two hotel rooms and eat out everynight. Assuming the bill for each dinner for the 4 of you is $150, and the rooms cost $150/night...That's $750 for food and $1,500 for rooms. And the fishing is less than $5,000... So, for 4 guys, the cost to go fishing for 5 days, stay in great lodging, eat well everynight is less than $7,500. Compare that to $20,000 to go hunting....Well, I'm no math major, but a degree in economics tells me that fishing sounds like a great deal and a lot more fun. Just my 2 cents.
This summer, a great way to do this would be to book a three day excursion. You'd have an incredible time! Just think "LONG WEEKEND! Saturday, Sunday, Monday". I can make all arrangements for you, including transportation if you need that as well. And did I mention that most of the Bed & Breakfast inns will cook your catch for you as part of the stay there? They'll also freeze up your catch so that it can be easily brought home with you...Give me a call for more details. I'm excited very much about this thought.
Friday, February 1, 2008
Well, we had a good week, and now another trip to the hospital with Stacey. More of the same. The days and weeks are flying by. The more that I've been thinking about you all fishing with us this year, the more I am trying to make Plymouth a destination for you all. I've started talking with some of the local bed & breakfast inns and I think that this option is a great one for you all if you wanted to bring the family for an extended stay here in the area. The prices are competitive and there is so much to do in the area. If this is something that you'd be interested in exploring, give me a call and I can go over all of the things to do around here. Within 1/2 hour of Plymouth, there are probably 20 beaches, ranging from the open ocean to protected, WARM, Cape Cod Bays, to pristine state parks with beautiful lakes.
Winter feels like it's relaxing a bit on us; my ice rink has softened up, the snow is melting, and I'm itching for a fresh fish fry. It's almost time!

Whew....long heartfelt sigh like I've never had. Long story short...the aneurysm is in a place encased in bone, such that it should never burst. If it does, it's location would be that the blood wouldn't go to the brain, but rather to the sinuses giving Stacey one heck of a bloody nose. We're breathing a little better... Thanks to everyone for helping out once again. We've got meals made for weeks here!
Monday, January 21, 2008
Thank you to a lot of people who've been very, very helpful to me and my family over the past couple of weeks. It's been a tough few weeks here, but we're getting through everything. Long story short, since October my wife, Stacey, has been having terrible vertigo and every specialist has a different theory, but no solutions. It's been so bad that she's been out of work much of that time (Verizon has been terrific, she just got a call from a Senior VP there comforting her, which was reassuring and sincere.) Her Grandmother just passed away 2 weeks ago after Alzhemier's took away pretty much everything upstairs, and now Stacey's vertigo has gotten worse than ever. And her last MRI shows an aneurysm, though really small, on her cavernous carotid artery. Whatever that means, we see a brain surgeon on Thursday. I don't think he'll be operating, but the overwhelming questions and fears are enough to fill a stadium.
So, needless, to say, my sanctuary has been my website and correspondence about fishing. I'm glad that I have it and also glad that it's the middle of winter and I'm home all of the time. In those regards, the timing is perfect. Most likely, we'll get news that they're just going to monitor the situation via a quarterly MRI and nothing should get any worse. And they'll figure out soon what's causing the vertigo and then take care of that. That's the hope.
On the fishing front,
not that I feel much like talking much, I'll get a couple of thoughts out there for you all to chew upon. I will be running more shared charters this spring to fill in the days when I don't have full charters. In the spring, casual fishermen haven't seen the warm weather yet and haven't pulled the shorts out of the closet, so there are the die-hards with "no friends til summer". The shared charters will be perfect for them. If you're one of them, drop me a line and I'll get you on the short list when I put toghether the dates.Speaking along the lines of shared charters is another thought I had the other day...with regard to shark fishing, I am dying to get into shark tournaments this year. The one thing that I don't like a lot about shark tourneys is that if we sign up early, we have to worry about the weather. Fishing is supposed to be fun---bad weather complicates things.
I want to get a group of people who want to commit to fishing a shark tournament--weather permitting---
we can sign up at the last minute if we've got the weather on our side! I know it's a different theory than most other captains out there, which is why I think it'll work. Does that make sense? Get a group of people willing to fish a tournament if the weather is fine, otherwise, nothing is lost. Drop me a line if you'd like to give it a shot. The cost for a tournament will be considerably less than most other boats because of this, I assure you. Just a thought. Thanks again for everyone who has brought us food, comfort, and prayers. It'll get better and we'll get through it all. Rich

It's cold, but they're talking 50's this weekend and into next week. That's amazing. So, I guess my hockey rink effort was short-lived. It was fun while it lasted--one day! At least it froze and it showed me that it's pretty easy to do, as long as it's going to be cold for a while!
All I have to say...wait until I load the video tonight! It's going to be waaay too funny watching my 4-year-old son...
Thursday, December 27th, 2007
Almost Happy New Year. Labyrinthitis. Ever hear of it? Not a fun one to watch someone deal with on a daily basis as has my wife for the past couple of months. Strange little bugger of an illness. Every specialist has a different idea on how to get rid of it. Aaarrgghh.
On fishing news, I'll be getting the boat back next week and may even start doing some more customizations on her. It's a great fishing boat and I have some more ideas to make her more comfortable.
I'M TAKING RESERVATIONS FOR 2008 ALREADY WHICH BRINGS UP SOME IMPORTANT POINTS:
1ST. Weekends are usually the first days to get booked--so book early to get the days that you want.
2nd I will most likely be raising my rates in 2008, but I will honor my 2007 rates for those who book early. This WILL SAVE YOU MONEY!
3rd There are shark tournaments to fish this summer. Are you interested?
captain@blackrosefishing.com is the best way to get in touch with me--I check email just about every time I walk by my computer and I also have my phone on me at all times. 508-269-1882. Have a safe new year and I hope to talk with you soon.
Merry Christmas!
I want to wish everyone a very happy holiday season and Merry Christmas! My kids are at that perfect age right now (4 and 5)--they couldn't wait to fall asleep! It was great, pointing out every red light on top of every tower and water tank on the ride home tonight. "Rudolph is getting closer to our house!" They were asleep quickly, needless to say. Enjoy it all and best of health you you and all of yours.

The VIDEO SECTION IS BACK UP AND RUNNING AND WITH MORE VIDEO NOW!
Friday, December 21, 2007
SHARK TOURNAMENTS for next year...If you are interested in competing in a shark tourney, give us a call. It should be a blast. For a two-day tournament, because of the set-up before and after for logistics, basically it is a 4-day charter plus the cost of the tournament...Just a thought...There are 4-6 of them that we could fish if there is interest. We're interested ourselves, but I think you knew that.
Gas prices...ouch.. It's looking like it's going to hurt. Most likely, I'll have to raise my rates a bit for 2008. It's just a part of life, I guess. As I have done in the past, for trips booked early, I will still use 2007 prices, which are still posted on my website. This was a good week for bookings, actually, with weekend days being the first to go. So, if your fishing must take place on a weekend, why not drop me a line and we can get you on the schedule. Merry Christmas.

With the video section....check them out at "year in review"--the video section is temporarily down, but I added several more videos to the YEAR IN REVIEW PAGE AND I THINK YOU'LL LIKE THEM. 14-0 Patriots had a tough one today against the JETS--that was spooky. And Miami next week!!! Hey, they're on a roll. One in a row. So, who's thinking about fishing this spring already? It can't be just me. If you're thinking about it, drop me a note to let me validate my efforts to myself. Laughing here.

Dr. Jack Kevorkian. I think that he got the shaft. I hope that there's another one of him around if I ever get old and sick. Seeing my wife's Grandmother in a nursing home for the past year...Seeing the condition of the people in that home tears me apart. It's not just the physical deterioration that is terrible, but the mental loss that's often the worst. At what point do we cease being the same person?
In One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, does anyone have a problem with what Chief did at the end of the movie? No. It's the proper thing to do. But I digress.

Christmas is almost here and the winter is officially flying by. First real snow yesterday and the kids were more excited than I've ever seen. Stopped by a store today looking for something for the kids. I was looking for something that the kids will keep for a long time and never really remember where and when they got it. I have a couple of baby Jesus items in my room that I've had as long as I can remember.. I'll have them forever. Didn't find what I was looking for in that store, but I think that I found some more faith. Every once in a while is really helps to step back a bit and slow life down. Watch the kids and watch them grow. It happens so fast.
I don't really have much rambling in me today, so I won't say too much. It's strange not having anything to say. I spent all day just listening and watching and it was really great. I walked around Boston for a couple of hours, just looking at buildings, smelling the different foods and smells of Downtown Crossing and Chinatown. People watched. Most people were hurrying from place to place. It didn't look too fun for them. Too bad. Great place to be; if you have to be there, might as well enjoy it.
On the fishing front, not much new--I'm hearing that the tuna had pushed down to NJ and that there was a great blitz of stripers down there as well. It won't be long before I get the boat out there again and April 1 will come very soon.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. I wish everyone the best and keep those emails coming--those junk emails are overwhelming my inbox and I miss fishing talk! I added some more video to the "year in review" section. The Awesome Video section will be up and running soon. Check them out! Look at the bend in Mike's Rod when catching that tuna!! Amazing. I can't believe that those rods can handle getting bent like that!! captain@blackrosefishing.com
Monday, December 3, 2007
Feeling great, back doesn't hurt, but I'm not pushing it either. The boat should be back from soon from it's winterization. Atlantic Boats I can't say enough about their service dept. They've been great to me over the years. I can't believe that I only have about 5 meals of fish left in the freezer! I can't wait for more cod. If you're reading my website on a now and then basis, drop me a line here and there. Thanks!
Sunday, December 2, 2007
Feeling much better, backwise. Seeing the surgeon again tomorrow, should hopefully go well. For some reason, my video page went crazy on me, so I moved a few to the "YEAR IN REVIEW" page. I just added the new ones that I haven't posted before. They're pretty cool, if I must say so myself. 7 NEW VIDEOS Check them and check them out.
Very soon I'll have even better video of that 400+ pound blue shark. I haven't been able to work with the end of the DVD yet, but I will soon. It's enormous and we have amazing footage.I can't wait until next year...My daughter, Alexandra, had a blast this year with her garden sales on our sidewalk. She did great and really learned about money. That was cool. I'm getting her garden ready this fall for next year. She'll have lots to sell, that's for sure. The garden will be 100' by 25'. I plan on planting about 50+ fig trees from cuttings that I have in case anyone wants a fig tree, I can bring them along! I'll also be planting about 40+ grape vines for the first installment of the "Antonino Wine". Harvard...
Getting excited also more every day about the tuna fishing. Running and gunning gave an adrenaline shot like never before. Pied-piper of tuna fishing I'll be. That and shark fishing.
If you are interested in getting into a shark tournament next summer on the Black Rose, let us know. There are about 5 that we can realistically enter. Oak Bluffs Monster Shark Tourament. Star Island Shark Tournament. Snug Harbor Shark Tournament. Green Harbor Shark Tournament. Marina Bay Shark Tournament. We'll run these trips gladly at a price that you'll agree is well worth the price. For many people, it's a great way to compete and charge it to the company as advertising...
Have a great winter and more later, Capt. Rich captain@blackrosefishing.com

Getting better, I think, with my back. Not doing much tough stuff, just seeing the PT and Chiropractor. Feeling pretty good. Waiting to watch the Pats in an hour when they play the Bills. I JUST ADDED MORE VIDEOS. Check them out. I'm checking out some new trolling lures for next year and will be adding some new techniques that I know will work great on the tuna next year. With any luck, I think that we'll even get bigger fish doing this.
Looking at my yard, 100+ gourds from my daughter's garden...just ate my whole yard. Those things grew and grew. Some were almost 5 feet long!!! Huge. The whole garden is covered in 2' of leaves for compost fot the winter. Next year..even bigger veggies!! I'll also be planting 40 grape vines to get started on the Antonino Vineyards!!! One gallon of wine this year from my one grape vine...Give me three years with the wine.
Getting used to being Mr. Mom for the winter. Realizing that we will be looking for a babysitter for my weekdays on the water next spring and summer. So I'm looking around for someone dependable, local, and available for early mornings. Plenty of time.
Enough rambling, I hope everyone has a great holiday season and I'll be adding a lot more to the website in the next weeks or so. Should be fun!

I'm done for the year officially. Great year---check out the "years in review" in the top-right menu bar and click on 2007. Tons of the best photos in one place and a good overview of what we did this year. We had a blast and did tons of fishing. Lots of cod, lots of tuna, and some great sharks. I loved it.
I have plenty of rehab ahead---two herniated disks, which the surgeon thinks will do fine with rehab and perhaps a cortizone shot in three weeks. Better than surgery. And Stacey has a bad bout of Labyrinthitis--one inner-ear is out of whack and it's causing mayhem. No fun, but I'll stop complaining--the patient at the hearing specialist that checked in after her was about 3 and has already been through chemo. I can't complain for much.
Keep checking in and dropping us a line from time to time. I'm adding a fishing-tips section, so if you want me to opine on anything, now's a good time!
Know your species....I heard a report of a decent-sized torpedo ray caught recently...a shocking release, to say the least!!! It's related to the electric eel and can really zap you!
